Failte,
I bought groceries this past Friday. I got edamame, brussels sprouts and chicken and some other various foods. I was surprised when I saw the size of the vegetable packages. I was expecting enough veggies to last a few days at least. I got maybe 16 baby brussels sprouts and a tiny pack of edamame. Even the chicken was in a pretty small package. It threw me off guard. In America, you get used to having large packages of food. Here, everything is smaller. Even the salsa I got was in this super tiny jar. Of course, it all costs the same, there is just less of it. I've been trying to figure out why this might be. Perhaps people in the UK don't eat as much. Perhaps families here buy food night by night rather than week by week, because there is no way a family could have enough chicken with just one package. Not only that, but the expiration dates here are strange. They come so soon. I got chicken that will be bad by the 12 of October. That's tomorrow. That isn't fair. I find it a wee bit bothersome.
Time goes fast when you're having fun. I cannot believe it has been a month already. Honestly, the first few weeks felt like forever and now they seem like they happened two minutes ago. It has been weird, hearing about going ons at home. I'm trying to stay in contact with my clubs at school, but it is hard to do. I miss them, and I wish I could be seeing them grow right now. It is a critical stage for their growth as clubs and it upsets me that I can't be there with them through it. This week, my dad and Jess moved into a new house. A house which will be home to me, but I won't actually know it until Christmas. I cannot explain how strange it is to know that I have a new home but that I won't see it for another couple months. I wish I could fly home for a weekend, see everyone and everything, and then fly back again.
More pictures of my trip up to the Wallace Monument, and of some nights I have spent out with friends, will be up soon! Make sure to check back for them, and I'll also post about them on Facebook once they are up.
